Exterior Oak Door Restoration in Loch Lamon

For this Loch Lamon project, our team completed a full restoration of a solid oak exterior door, preserving its craftsmanship while enhancing its durability against the elements. The door was fully stripped, pH-balanced to neutralize residual chemicals, and sanded to reveal clean, smooth bare wood. We then applied three coats of high-quality marine spar varnish, building a resilient finish designed to protect the oak from UV exposure, temperature swings, and moisture.

To perform the work properly, the door was transported to our climate-controlled off-site facility, where we could ensure optimal curing conditions and a flawless final finish. While the door was off the home, we secured the entry with a custom-built temporary system: 5/8" plywood fitted with foam gaskets and threaded fasteners, creating a weather-resistant and secure barrier for the duration of the project.
